Retrospective
My original prompt for this game was "A game about cooking where players kill. We play it to defeat the boss and feel fear. " While my TTRPG mostly focused on the "killing" aspect of the prompt, forgoing both the boss and fear parts alltogether, I wanted this game to actually include all of these aspects! The best way I could impliment the "fear" was through making it more of a horror game, where your boss is the one doing most of the killing. I'm hoping to make it so that at least a few of the choices you can make end up being about murder, and at least one of the endings about killing your boss!
I've always been a huge fan of horror games (SOMA, Amnesia the dark decent, and the like) and wanted to impliment a silly physics system to sorta contrast from that? At least that was my original idea, while I was working in unity. The premise is the same as the one in Twine, just that the making of the food would be a goofy, lighthearted "move all the ingredients into the vague direction of the pot and try to not drop everything", and the actual talking system is more akin to the current twine iteration.
I had a lot of issues with the Unity version- both because I was too ambitious and lacked skill, and because my computer SUCKS and kept crashing on me, adding to my frustration. I actually ended up stopping my deveopment of the dialog system due to an error that irritated me too much. My process in Twine was much, much smoother, as it was a simpler system to work with, and didn't tax my computer too much.
and now here we are! It's not much but I'm proud of it C:
